TAILORS DAUGHTER WINS BRITSH COMPOSER AWARD
Brian has been awarded a British Composer Award for his opera The Tailors Daughter with libretto by Greg Cullen. The youth opera, which was commissioned and performed by Welsh National Opera last year received widespread critical acclaim and was the only youth opera to have been awarded the prize.
Presented by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in association with the PRS foundation and Radio 3, the awards are held each year to mark the achievements of composers living and working in the UK. The finalists were chosen by a panel of distinguished composers, performers, and practitioners drawn from the UK music industry.
The awards were announced at a special evening at the Hayward Gallery, South Bank centre on 24th November.
